Selecting a winner from the multitude of amazing fish taco
recipes we received was a battle for the ages.
It was the perfect way to celebrate our 40th Anniversary!

The Contestants

People from all over entered their recipes along with a mouth-watering photo of their fish tacos. And the taco-loving public narrowed the list down to three finalists.

The Judging

Those three were flown to San Diego to make their tacos live, for our panel of judges – including Ralph Rubio!

The Deliberations

The judges compare notes as they try to select the winning taco.

The Winner

The Winner received a Grand Prize of $1000, and their taco will be featured on the Rubio’s menu starting September 20th!

Coconut Shrimp Taco
with Mango Salsa

It was a tough battle, but Cynthia Phillips’ Coconut Shrimp Taco with Mango Salsa came out on top. Her secret? Cynthia collected all of Rubio’s sauces and salsas and experimented in her own kitchen. It took some time, but she found the perfect combination of flavors. Rubio’s fresh, juicy shrimp, rolled in her secret blend of two types of coconut, mango salsa, Rubio’s white sauce, a touch of jalapeno, and a squeeze of lime. The culinary equivalent of a day at the beach! Come try it and judge for yourself beginning September 20th.
